Sympathy is staying where you are emotionally and acknowledging someone’s situation, while empathy is moving closer emotionally and trying to feel what the other person may be feeling.

Lord, let Your light shine clearly into me and through me onto others – not as if through a smudged window, but a shining beam from Heaven above.

Lord, let me serve with a heart of compassion today.

Lord, I watch in hope that You will hear me.

The Lord smoothes away our imperfections of stubbornness, impatience, and selfishness until we are shaped for His good purpose.

The Lord doesn’t cast us aside and put someone else in our place – He just keeps reshaping us until He is satisfied.

Thank you, Lord, for covering my weaknesses with Your grace.

Our competence is from God – not ourselves.

Lord, help my eyes see the good in others and to look for the positives in today.

Lord, let me see you in unexpected places today.
